Hey guys and gals and everyone in between! I thought I’d post something a little different and fun today. So, rather than a hacking lesson, here is a really fun demonstration of the capabilities of AI. Click here to skip to the final product!
It started with a TikTok comment.

Lyrics
Lets do it, I thought to myself. You know ya girl loves a good midwest emo song. Now, I think I’m an okay writer, but I’m not “memorize a Shakespearean tragedy and create multiple verses, a chorus, and a bridge” good. So I did what any ADHD person would do, I used ChatGPT with the following prompt. To be completely transparent, I was given a couple different versions, but this was my favorite.

Music & Vocals
Next, we need some music. During the pandemic, I taught myself how to play guitar. I got laid off at the end of 2019 because the lab where I worked was closing and essentially got three (3) months’ worth of salary (pay + severence + 80 hours vacation). I’d always wanted to play guitar, so I thought ‘what the hell.’ I headed to my local used guitar shop and got a nice acoustic guitar for a very good price. Anyways, I used Suno.ai to generate the music.

Composition
Suno gave me 3 or 4 separate clips rather than one full song. I was doing this for free, so I had to do one verse at a time. I put everything together in ProTools with some light blending to make the transitions more natural….

Final Product
… and this is what we get! I’m not going to lie, this song goes way harder than it has any right to. What do you guys think? I’m sure this has some broader implications for the future of music, art, and creativity, but its a genuinely great song, so I guess we will burn that bridge when we get to it.
